Prep School French Teacher

Duties: Responsible for teaching 5 upper-level French classes, including Advanced Placement French Language and French Literature. Provide a student-centered methodology to teach students how to read, write, and speak in French. Responsible for teaching five French classes per day: French III (3 sections), French IV, French V, Advance Placement and French Literature. Classes vary from 5 to 15 students depending on the level of French taught (the higher the level, the fewer the students). Prepare lesson plans and instructional resources for each French class. Establish and communicate clear learning objectives to students. Meet course and student-wide performance goals, develop students’ appreciation of French culture and demonstrate how culture and language are closely linked. Evaluate student progress and performance, issue grades and quarterly reports. Create and sustain a positive educational climate for students in order to maximize learning and retention of the French language.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Foreign degree equivalent is acceptable) in Foreign Language Education or Foreign Languages plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible experience teaching French as a foreign language. Fluency in French, both written and oral, is required. Must have excellent time management, critical thinking and oral and written communication skills.
